One of the most crucial parts of working with succulents is having a well-draining soil. Succulent roots will rot if they sit in water or wet soil for too long
1. Spring and autumn are the growth periods for succulents.
① When growing succulents in a sunny and well-ventilated place, you may water them generously once a week. (provided when they are planted in the well-drained soil)
② When growing succulents in the sunlight less than 6 hours a day, you need to water them only twice a month in spring and autumn.
If you grow succulents in a place with little sunlight, they would not be pretty, the stems becomes thin and tall due to the succulent growth (the phenomenon that the plant leaves turn over due to the lack of sunlight). In case that sunlight is less, you can prevent the succulent over growth a bit, if you grow them in the soil with more coarse sand.
2. It is better not to water succulents In summer, because of the high humidity.
As succulent’s leaves have the characteristic to absorb moisture from the surroundings, they begin to revert to green and stretch out.
by absorbing the moisture. Summer is probably the most difficult season to grow them among four seasons. When the temperature rises in summer, you should stop watering.
3. How to manage succulents in winter
In winter, most of succulents go dormant except a few sorts. Therefore you can grow them without watering from December till the end of February.
If you want to water them since the leaves shrivel, you only need water them a little during daytime when it is warm with sufficient sunlight.
